Âmago’s ESG commitment

Âmago is an engineering services company dedicated to energy efficiency. Our contribution to the environment is not a programme running alongside the business: it is the business itself.

Every audit, every project and every energy performance contract we sign exists so that our clients’ buildings use less, emit less and last longer. But we believe we can only ask of others what we practise ourselves. This is our commitment, in the three dimensions that define it.

Environment

Âmago’s environmental impact is measured, first and foremost, in the buildings we transform. Over more than thirty years we have audited more than two hundred buildings, with average energy savings of 40%, and our energy performance contracts have avoided more than a million tonnes of CO2. We work towards a world that does not depend on fossil fuels, and that is the yardstick for everything we design.

In-house, we apply to ourselves what we recommend. We generate solar power for self-consumption at our office, reducing the electricity we buy from the grid. The energy we purchase comes from 100% renewable sources, a choice we also encourage among our clients. For getting around, we favour electric vehicles, which cover practically all of the company’s travel.

We separate the waste we produce and recycle paper, in work that is, by its nature, made of documents. We also follow sustainable purchasing practices, giving preference to suppliers and materials with a smaller environmental footprint, greater durability and responsible origin.

Social

Âmago is made of people, and the quality of our work begins with valuing those who do it. We invest in our professionals’ qualifications, in above-average pay and in long-term relationships with our employees. Our very low staff turnover reflects the continuity of the team and lets us preserve the knowledge and experience we put at the service of every project.

The value we create extends to the people who use the buildings we work in: hotels, schools, health centres, municipal buildings and company headquarters. They are places where thousands of people work, learn, are treated or rest. By improving the performance of these buildings, we also seek to make them more comfortable, healthier and cheaper to run, to the benefit of those who use them and those who manage them.

Governance

We make commitments and we keep them. We build long-term relationships with clients and suppliers, founded on trust, transparency and respect for what has been agreed.

Âmago has signed up to the Compromisso Pagamento Pontual (Prompt Payment Commitment), paying its suppliers within the agreed terms, because a company’s sustainability also depends on the sustainability of those who work with us. In our energy performance contracts, the results we promise are measured and verified, and our pay depends on them: it is the most transparent way of aligning our interests with those of our clients.

This commitment is not finished. We review it as the company grows and practices evolve, and we are accountable for it to those who place their trust in us.
